The redevelopment of the Hornsby Day Surgery includes the demolition of the existing surgery and construction of a new building with an area of more than 6,000m². The new surgery will include 4 theatres, a 79 patient bed facility and 139 parking spaces. The composition of the façade of the building has been developed to respond to the internal arrangements whilst also responding to the scale of the adjacent residential density, and medical and consulting buildings. The combination of a range of masonry brickwork, timber louvres and aluminium windows provides a modulated form. The proposed material selection provides a contemporary response to the brickwork found on adjacent buildings. The development has been designed to meet a 4 star Green Star rating with sustainable environmental considerations at the forefront of design decisions.
