Enmore Box Factory

About the Project

Nominated for the Marrickville Medal, this adaptive reuse of a disused corrugated metal factory building, formally the “Enmore Box and Case Factory” created 13 one, two and three bed apartments within a historic factory building.

The project was developed to sit within the form of the existing building envelope, maintaining the current form and materiality. The modulation of solid and void surfaces along the facade help conceal the three levels of residential units behind.  The architectural style of the building is a contemporary translation of the warehouse building. The use of new and re–used corrugated metal and recycled timber cladding contrast with the glass balustrades and rendered masonry walls.

The 3 gable façade has been interpreted within the composition of the proposed entry of the building along with the main set of existing factory doors.
